Brewers 77 Deeside Dragons 48

The Christmas break finally ended for the Brewers as they returned to action at Ellesmere Port Catholic High to take on Deeside Dragons.

In fairness the Brewers, despite their hard work in training during the break, struggled to lock down their defence in the early stages as both sides traded buckets. The frustrations boiled over as the Brewers picked up a couple of technical fouls, born not out of aggressive play but frustration that they were not performing at their best.

The arrival of new signing Kevin Ozoemelam provided a catalyst for the side however, not only bringing a new dynamic to the squad, but also lifting everyone’s performances as they shook off their funk and got down to business.

The second half saw the Brewers rediscover their rhythm, cranking up the pressure and being much more clinical on offence.

Leading that charge was Aaron Rey, who received the LMC Lighting and Electrical Services MVP Award for his 10 points and his energy on both sides of the ball but the game’s top scorer was¬†Ozoemelam with 19, followed by Iker Amuchastegui with 13.

The victory ensures the Brewers remain unbeaten this season going into a three-game back-to-back-to-back series with Mold, as they face their rivals in both the league and the cup.
