Last Orders with Ben Scott: Ready to raise the woof

19th February, 2024 | News | 0 comments

We got off to an excellent start in NWBA Division Two with a home win over Wyddgrug Magic.

But there’s still plenty of games to come and it’s far too early to draw many conclusions from this alone!

There have recently been some performances that deserve highlighting. While I’m cautious about calling out individuals, to give these guys their due they have earned a mention.

Defensively Ash Millington has become a bit of a monster at the 4. He works hard to deny opportunities and secure rebounds at both ends of the court.

Easaw George obviously brings the benefit of his offensive ability whenever he plays. His pace and versatility make him a nightmare to guard and theres a few other tricks he has that may yet surprise a few opponents.

In truth however, everything we’ve achieved we’ve done as a team. Guys don’t deliver stand-out performances without others putting in the work around them. The way the team has developed and come together over the first half of the season deserves the biggest shout-out. It gives us a great foundation to build on in the future.

Next up, Bromborough Bulldogs return to Blacon. Brewers have always had a strong rivalry with them since day one.

Despite their slow start to the Prelim games Bulldogs rallied towards the end and this game will not be a walk in the park. If we stick to our game, concentrate on what we do well and work hard on court then we stand a great chance to secure win number two, but we’re going to have to work for it.

Recently we’ve seen numbers at Lite training remain strong and we’re still seeing new faces which is fantastic.

We have made a couple of signings to strengthen the squad and there’s a real buzz in the air at the moment!

Finally, just want to give a quick shout-out to Louis Edwards who has been down to our recent training sessions and games and taken some amazing photos while he’s been there! Check out our socials to see more and find links to his channels.
