Lloyd’s Special Brew: Return of the Old Enemy

8th November, 2022 | News | 0 comments

Next up for the Brewers is the visit of Bromborough Bulldogs – a team you could call our ‘Old Enemy’.

They are one of the first teams we faced when the Brewers first started back in the Wirral League and since they migrated across to the North Wales League it has continued to be a fiercely-fought fixture. Its good to have these rivalries, it keeps everyone on their toes.

As always it will be a tough game against the Bulldogs, who have always been a hardworking team. To compete with them you need to match, and go beyond, that work rate.

Our lads as always have been putting the work in, as they have dobe consistently since I took the helm. There has been a couple of common mistakes repeating themselves over the last couple of games and they’ve been working hard to improve in those areas and put these things right.

I know they want to improve and grab that first W of the season and I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements from training being put onto the court.

It’s been a busy week behind the scenes with lots of activity going on, more of that to follow In the coming weeks. One thing we can reveal is the addition of some depth to our squad.

I am pleased to welcome to the Brewers family our latest signing – Juan Carlos Gonzalez – or Carlos to us!

Carlos is an athletic forward, who will add some aggression and dynamism to the team ok both offence and defence. He’s been training with us since the summer but wanted to complete the Boston Marathon before committing (which he ran in an impressive time of 3hrs 13min!)

He’s a fantastic addition and one I’ve been wanted to get over the line for a while so I’d like you all to welcome Carlos and hopefully see you at tonight’s game.
