NWBA: Mold Magic 52 Cheshire Brewers 53

18th November, 2016 | Archive, Mold Magic, NWBA Regular Season | 0 comments

A clutch buzzer beating jump shot from Brewers centre Byron Ward saw the league leaders edge out one of their main championship rivals on the road.

The well organised Mold Magic hosted the Cheshire Brewers in the North Wales League and posed them a few problems with their quick start, stretching to an 11-2 opening quarter lead.

The momentum swung towards the visitors in the second however as the Brewers claimed it 19-4 to go into the half 21-15 up.

The Brewers collapsed again in the third, putting only nine points on the board to Mold’s 22 and at 37-30 to the home side the final stanza would be a shoot-out.

Both teams matched each other throughout and it Mold looked as if they would hold on as the seconds ticked away. But Big Bad Byron’s instincts took over as he drifted out and looped a high shot over two defenders on the buzzer to claim the victory.

The Brewers MVP was guard Steve Flanagan, for Mold Magic it was Steve Welsh.
