8th March, 2023 | News | 0 comments

The Brewers pulled off another fantastic victory over a Wrexham Warriors side with its sights very firmly set on top spot in the North Wales Basketball Association.

Head Coach Adam Lloyd prepared his Brewers squad well forf the clash and from the off they went toe-to-toe with the visitors.

Effective, efficient defence coupled with a dynamic attack led by MVP Niel Gillard and Dave Thomas saw thew Brewers build a promising eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Brewers controlled the paint through a combination of Luke Sharland-Wong, Ben Scott, Joe Hughes and Carlos Gonzalez, giving Thomas, Wissam Elkak and Gillard a platform to shut down the three-point threat.

With offensive threats contributed by Alex Jones and Tim Dann the Brewers went into the half 13 points ahead 36-23.

Tight defence prevented the Warriors capitalising on the Brewers typically quiet start to the third, but the introduction of Cameron Blundell and Jay Redbond injected the energy the Brewers needded to kick-start their second half.

By the end of the quarter the Brewers’ lead had stretched a little to 14 points and a memorable victory was within sight.

Lloyd stressed the importance of pushing hard until the end and, although fatigue began to tell with the home side, they continued to frustrate the Warriors’ shooters and manage the game to an impressive win.
