NWBA: Cheshire Brewers 120 Caernarfon Kings 23

10th November, 2016 | Archive, NWBA Regular Season | 0 comments

Not too long ago the Brewers were registering losing seasons as they built their team from the ground up.

This week they welcomed brand new North Wales Basketball Association outfit Caernarfon Kings to Ellesmere Port with the roles reversed.

While the Brewers are now a team with a successful track record of title wins, the memory of those difficult seasons remains fresh in the mind and it was refreshing to see the Kings battle hard to the end as the score rose.

For the Brewers, who remain unbeaten in the league, it was important to maintain discipline and concentration and they did that, coach Mark Ogley making some big calls to get the performance he wanted out of his team.

It worked as five separate players reached double-figures: Che Ofili (22) Iker Amuchastegui (21), MVP Pete Arden (20), Rob Smith (14) and Lester Dorozik (10). It was a clinical performance by the hosts but the Brewers expect a tougher test in the reverse fixture later in the campaign.
