Iker final small

After a long and hard fought season the North Wales Basketball Association Championship title came down to a final between the Brewers and Mold Magic.

Despite the Brewers winning the regular season title, the game was hosted by Mold and it was hard-fought from the off. The Brewers led for almost the entire game, holding a 10-point advantage at the half.

A slow start in the third allowed the Magic back in and they took full advantage, closing the gap to just three points.

The momentum swing was always likely to prove difficult to turn around and despite a rousing teamtalk from head coach Tom Griffiths,┬áthe Brewers couldn’t rediscover their game in the fourth and as the lead slipped and tempers frayed the title slipped away.

It was only the Brewers’ second loss in two years and the team will now regroup to focus on the forthcoming Terry Price Welsh National Cup, which takes place in Aberystwyth in May.
