NWBA: Wrexham Warriors 49 Cheshire Brewers 63

10th February, 2017 | Archive, NWBA Regular Season, Wrexham Warriors | 0 comments

A tough battle at Glyndwr University saw two teams put their bodies on the line to grind out a result, but it was the Brewers who emerged victorious.

Wrexham Warriors, the team which ended the Brewers two-year unbeaten streak at home before Christmas, came out looking to dull the Brewers cutting edge through tough, physical basketball.

But their efforts were not enough to counteract the Brewers, who remained top of the North Wales League a point clear of Deeside Dragons.

The Brewers won three of four quarters. Trailing 14-10 after the first, the Warriors bounced back to lead at the half 29-27.

But they were slow out of the blocks in the third, losing the quarter 16-5 and allowing the Brewers to kick on and claim the points.

The Brewers top scorer was player/head coach Tom Griffiths with 14pts  while Michael Embaye claimed the MVP honour.
